Glissvia / Short answer
Left your Mac behind? Finish the job from your iPhone or iPad
If your Mac is awake, online and prepared, Glissvia lets you open its apps, edit, reply and copy text from an iPhone or iPad, without carrying a laptop. It suits short, urgent tasks rather than replacing a full computer.
Good for
- Replying from an app that only runs on your Mac.
- Fixing a line in a document, then saving it.
- Checking or restarting a long job in Terminal.
- Copying a piece of text from the Mac to your phone.
Prepare before you leave
- Turn on Screen Sharing and allow your user account.
- Install Tailscale on the Mac and sign in, so you can reach it from other networks.
- Keep the Mac on power and stop it sleeping automatically in System Settings.
- Add the Mac in Glissvia and test one connection while you are still nearby.
Making a small screen workable
- Pinch in on the area you are working in; use pointer mode for small targets.
- Type with your phone’s keyboard in any language, with Mac shortcuts available.
- On iPad, add an external keyboard and mouse for longer sessions.
Limits to plan around
There is no audio or file transfer, and a Mac that is asleep or offline cannot be reached. Glissvia connects to one Mac at a time.
Common questions
Can I connect while the Mac is locked?
Yes, if the Mac is logged in and awake. Glissvia can connect to it and unlock it with your Mac account. Waking from sleep and the first unlock after a FileVault restart are not supported.
Can people near the Mac see what I do?
Assume yes. Screen Sharing shows the session on the Mac’s own display, so leave the Mac somewhere you trust.
Does Glissvia store my desktop or typing?
No. Desktop images, keystrokes and clipboard text are handled for the session and are not uploaded to our website or feedback service.
